Formed[edit]

  • 1923 as the "National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of England".
  • 1930 becomes the "National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of the British Isles"
  • 1972 becomes the "National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of the United Kingdom" following the establishment that year of a separate NSA for the Republic of Ireland.

Jurisdiction[edit]

The National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of the United Kingdom represents the Bahá'í communities within England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It also has jurisdiction over the Bahá'í communities in the Isle Of Man, the Channel Islands and Gibraltar, none of which form part of the United Kingdom although they are territories under the British crown. The Faroe Islands, which are geographically between Scotland and Iceland, have at times fallen under the responsibility of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Iceland, but since 2006, they have been under that of the United Kingdom.
