The National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of New Caledonia is responsible for the Bahá'ís in New Caledonia. New Caledonia is a French territory comprising a group of islands in the southwest Pacific Ocean. New Caledonia is divided into three provinces. North and South provinces are on the New Caledonian mainland while the Loyalty Islands Province is a series of four inhabited islands off the east coast of the mainland. Th four islands are Ouvéa, Lifou, Tiga, and Maré.

Formed[edit]

In 1959 New Caledonia was included in the NSA of the South Pacific Ocean along with the Loyalty Islands.[1] In 1964 when the NSA of the South Pacific Islands was dissolved, both New Caledonia and the Loyalty Islands were included in the NSA of the South West Pacific Ocean.[2] With the departure of several other islands in 1977 the NSA was renamed the NSA of New Caledonia and Loyalty Islands.[3] [4] It was renamed again in 1978 to the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of New Caledonia with responsibility for French Polynesia. French Polynesia was transferred the newly elected NSA of the Cook Islands in 1985.[5] [6] [7]
