Myrtle Dodge
Myrtle Dodge, later Silva,[1] (d. December 20, 1985) was an American Bahá’í who served on the Inter-America Committee and pioneered to Alaska.
Biography[edit]
Dodge was appointed to the Inter-America Committee in 1938 becoming the bodies new Secretary while living in San Francisco, California.[2] In 1939 she remained a member of the Committee but was replaced as Secretary,[3] instead becoming Recording Secretary,[4] and as of that year she was serving as Secretary of the Local Spiritual Assembly of San Francisco.[5] By November 1939 she was serving as Acting Secretary of the body.[6]
In 1940 she left San Francisco to pioneer to Alaska becoming the fourth Bahá’í pioneer to the state where she settled in Anchorage and helped form the first Bahá’í Group in Alaska.[1] In 1942 she was appointed to the Regional Teaching Committee for Alaska.[7] She returned to California at some point in the 1940's.[8] In 1950 she was appointed to the Editorial Committee for Volume XII of The Bahá’í World.[9]
Dodge passed away in San Diego, California in 1985.[10]
