Mukilteo is a city in the U.S. State of Washington. It is located in Snohomish County.

History[edit]

In 1968 Mukilteo was identified as a goal city for a Bahá’í to pioneer to due to it having no Bahá’í residents,[1] and as of 1976 it was still unopened to the Faith.[2] By 1980 a Bahá’í had pioneered to Mukilteo and the Local Spiritual Assembly of Edmonds, Washington, was assigned the goal of assisting with the establishment of a Local Spiritual Assembly for Mukilteo.[3]

In 1992 a commemoration of the Centenary of the Ascension of Bahá’u’lláh was held in Snohomish County with a reporter for a Mukilteo newspaper attending and writing an extensive article on the Bahá’í Faith as a result,[4] and as of 1994 a Local Spiritual Assembly had been established in the city.[5]

In October 1996 the Mukilteo Local Spiritual Assembly accepted the Human Services Council Collaboration Award for their work organizing for Bahá’ís to volunteer at the Bethany Shelter for homeless families,[6] and the same year a statewide Bahá’í conference for Washington was held in Mukilteo for consultation on developing Sunday school programmes.[7]
