Maqsúd ‘Alízádih

Maqsúd ‘Alízádih (September 23, 1940 - May 5, 1984) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
‘Alízádih was born into a Bahá’í family in Miyandub in 1940. He completed high school in Tabriz then moved to Varamin where he studied at the College of Agriculture and after graduating settled in Urmia where he worked as an agricultural expert for the Department of Land Reform. In 1970 he was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly of Tabriz.[1]
After the Iranian Revolution in 1979 ‘Alízádih was dismissed from his job due to his religion and on January 28, 1982, he was arrested and imprisoned in Tabriz, being kept in solitary confinement for the first three months. On May 5, 1984, he was executed by firing squad alongside a fellow Bahá’í. His family was informed of his execution the following day when they arrived at the prison for a scheduled visit. He was buried by his family on May 7, 1984.[1]
