Manúchihr Vafá’í

Manúchihr Vafá’í (1935 - July 9, 1982) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.

Biography[edit]

Vafá’í was born in 1935. He established a successful career working for the Ministry of Finance and in his personal life he married and had a child with his wife and child moving to Dubai at some point prior to the 1979 Revolution. He was dismissed from his job in November, 1980, after refusing to recant his Faith and he was denied permission to leave Iran to join his family in Dubai.[1]

On July 9, 1982, Vafá’í was murdered in his home in Tehran being beaten and strangled with a metal cable. A note was left on his chest which implied his murder had been ordered due to his religion. His body was sent to a coroner and when his family visited the coroner's office they were informed he had already been buried.[1]
