Manúchihr Rúhí

Manúchihr Rúhí (June 26, 1936 - August 16, 1984) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred.
Biography[edit]
Rúhí was born into a Bahá’í family in Zahedan with his family moving to Gonabad shortly after his birth. The family experienced intense persecution due to opposition to the Faith, with his older brother being martyred by a mob during a riot, and moved to Mashhad.[1]
In 1951 Rúhí's father passed and he began working as an apprentice to a pharmacist while studying at night. He moved to Bojnourd where he established a pharmacy with a friend in 1965 and he was elected to the cities Local Spiritual Assembly.[1]
On September 25, 1983, Rúhí was arrested on the street while coming home from work and seven other members of the Bojnourd Assembly were arrested in the following two days. He was executed by firing squad on August 16, 1984. His family were not informed that he had passed until August 19. His body was returned to his family for burial, however the funeral was supervised by Revolutionary Guards who prevented him from receiving a Bahá’í burial and his family was not permitted to use a coffin.[1]
