Mírzá Munir-i-Zayn
Mírzá Munir-i-Zayn was a Bahá’í who served as a Secretary for ‘Abdu’l-Bahá.[1]
Background[edit]
Zayn was born into a Bahá’í family and his father was the Apostle of Bahá’u’lláh Zaynu’l-Muqarrabín.[2] At some point after the passing of his father in 1903 Zayn began to serve as a secretary for ‘Abdu’l-Bahá taking dictation for Him for some Tablets alongside his brother Mírzá Nuru’d-Din.[3] He notably took dictation of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá's words during His discussions with Laura Barney which were used to publish Some Answered Questions.[4]
Zayn and his brother learnt English studying under Youness Afrukhtih on the instructions of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá,[5] and when ‘Abdu’l-Bahá went to Egypt from the Holy Land in 1910 beginning his international travels Zayn was one of only two Bahá’ís who accompanied Him.[6] He also boarded the S.S. Cedric in Alexandria in 1911 and accompanied ‘Abdu’l-Bahá to Italy and was to have accompanied Him on His tour of the West, however he was one of three people in ‘Abdu’l-Bahá's entourage that Italian physicians diagnosed with an eye infection ruling that they had to return to Egypt.[1]
