Letter to the World's Religious Leaders

The Letter to the World's Religious Leaders was a statement issued by the Universal House of Justice in April 2002. It was an open letter addressed to leaders of religious communities and called for a re-examination of interfaith activity.[1]
The letter consists of twenty-five paragraphs. Its contents calls for religious leaders to focus on points of similarity in order to build a consensus on fundamental spiritual principles and to eliminate fanaticism and religious bigotry.[2] It praises the value of interfaith dialogue and cooperation,[3] and refers positively to interfaith worship services but observes that such efforts had done little to achieve social change such as the equality of men and women and racial integration.[4]
Since being published it has received little academic attention and it has not been formally analyzed or responded to in non-Bahá’í circles.[5]
