Leslie Marcus (1930 - April 8, 2000) was an American Bahá’í who pioneered to Luxembourg where he served on the National Spiritual Assembly and served at the Bahá’í World Centre.
Biography[edit]
Marcus was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1930 to Rebecca and Charles Marcus and he married Audrey Jane Deats in Englewood, New Jersey, in 1957. He studied at Iowa University and then the Palmer School of Chiropractic.[1] The Marcus's pioneered to Luxembourg in 1961 and Marcus was elected to the inaugural National Spiritual Assembly of Luxembourg in 1962 and served as its secretary until 1975.[2]
In 1975 the Marcus's moved to the Holy Land to serve at the Bahá’í World Centre where Marcus was appointed the manager of the Resident Engineers' Office for the construction of the Seat of the Universal House of Justice. In 1988 he became the project accountant and purchasing agent for the Mount Carmel projects which oversaw the construction of the Terraces of the Shrine of the Báb and other buildings on the Arc.[2]
The Marcus's retired from the World Centre in 1996 and returned to the United States where Marcus was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly of White Plains, New York.[1] He passed in White Plains in 2000 survived by his wife and daughter Della Lee Marcus.[2]
