Kahlil Gibran was a Lebanese poet, who moved to the United States as a young man. He wrote in both English and Arabic. Although never considered as a Bahá'í, he was associated with certain Bahá'ís, and he met ‘Abdu’l-Bahá. It has been suggested that his extended poem, "The Prophet" was inspired by 'Abdu'l-Bahá, as was his poem on "Jesus, The Son of God".
