Kúrush Haqbín

Kúrush Haqbín (September 23, 1949 - June 16, 1983) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
Haqbín was born into a Bahá’í family in Yazd in 1949. After completing his schooling and compulsory military service he settled in Shiraz, in the suburb of Marvdasht, to teach the Bahá’í Faith. In 1975 he married and in 1977 he and his wife had their first child and pioneered to Sarpole Zahab. They returned to Marvdasht in 1980 due to the Iran-Iraq war and in 1982 Haqbín was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly of Marvdasht.[1]
On November 29, 1982, Haqbín was arrested and eventually held in Adilabad prison. He was repeatedly interrogated and pressured to recant his Faith and convert to Islam and due to his refusal he was executed by hanging alongside five fellow Bahá’ís on June 16, 1983. Their bodies were not returned to their families for burial.[1]
