Dr. Jose Mielnik is an Argentinean Bahá’í who served as a National Spiritual Assembly member.
Background[edit]
Mielnik and his wife, Zulema, were Jewish residents of Buenos Aires, Argentina and became Bahá’ís in the early 1950's. They met with Hand of the Cause Dorothy Baker in 1952 after requesting to be able to meet with her after seeing her speak at a Bahá’í Summer School and she shared information with them about the Bahá’í teachings on Jesus Christ and Christianity.[1]
In 1955 Mielnik was elected to the National Spiritual Assembly of South America serving until 1957 when he was elected to a succeeding Assembly responsible for several countries within South America.[2] In 1961 he was elected to the inaugural National Spiritual Assembly of Argentina.[3] He served on the body up until 1967,[4] having completed his service by 1968.[5]
