Ismá‘íl Zihtáb

Ismá‘íl Zihtáb (d. July 29, 1981) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
Zihtáb was born into a Muslim family in Tabriz. He became a Bahá’í in his youth and pioneered to Ardibil, then Khalkhal in Azerbaijan Province where he established a dental clinic and was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly. He faced persecution in Khalkhal but remained in the town for thirteen years.[1]
Zihtáb moved to Tabriz from Khalkhal and he was elected to the cities Local Spiritual Assembly as Treasurer of the body. In October 1979 he was arrested and imprisoned for six months before being granted bail. He was arrested again on July 18, 1980, and held until being executed by firing squad on July 29, 1980.[1]
