Islington is one of the thirty-two London boroughs created under the Greater London Council in 1965. It was made up of several smaller built-up areas. Parts of Islington are regarded as very "fashionable", and include modernised homes, while other parts consist largely of blocks of flats (condominiums). The Bahá’í community in the area is constantly changing in personnel, as students and others move into and out of small flats and "bedsits". Islington was at the forefront of the movement to introduce the Ruhi curriculum into Britain, and was part of the "London City East" cluster, before all of London was united into one cluster.
