Iraj Mehdinejad.

Iraj Mehdinejad (1937 - October 3, 1986) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.

Background[edit]

Mehdinejad was born in 1937. His father was a Bahá’í and his mother was a Muslim and he did not become a Bahá’í until he was an adult. After the Iranian Revolution in 1979 he was dismissed from his job due to being a Bahá’í.[1]

On October 3, 1986, his home in Bandar-‘Abbás was raided by a group of men in the evening and he was stabbed several times and beaten with a blunt object. His body was discovered by his son-in-law the next day and his wife, son, and son-in-law were arrested. A letter was sent by the same group threatening to murder his daughter shortly after his passing. He was buried in the Bahá’í cemetery of Bandar-‘Abbás.[1]
