Ihsánu’lláh Kathírí

Ihsánu’lláh Kathírí (August 3, 1936 - June 27, 1984) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.

Biography[edit]

Kathírí was born into a Bahá’í family in Arab-Khayal, Mazandaran Province, in 1936. The family moved to Kiakola in 1949 so Kathírí could receive and education and he later moved to Babol to attend high school. After completing his schooling he began working for the Iranian Ministry of Health. He moved to Khalajabad, Karaj, at some point and served on the Local Spiritual Assembly of Karaj for two and a half years.[1]

On July 29, 1983, Kathírí was arrested and initially held in Gohardasht prison. He was later transferred to Evin prison where he was executed on June 27, 1984. His family was made aware of his execution when they were presented with his body when arriving at the prison for a scheduled visit on July 2. His body was not returned to his family for burial.[1]
