Husayn Nayyírí-Isfahání

Husayn Nayyírí-Isfahání (1916 - November 29, 1983) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
Nayyírí was born in Isfahan in 1916. His father was a prominent Muslim cleric who became a Bahá’í after being inspired to study the religion after witnessing two Bahá’í youth being martyred. He studied Agriculture in Karaj then returned to Isfahan which remained his home for his entire life, and he was elected to the cities Local Spiritual Assembly in 1971.[1]
On July 6, 1981, Nayyírí was arrested at his home and during his imprisonment he was denied medical treatment and medication despite the fact he was suffering from diabetes. He was subjected to interrogation sessions and passed in custody from a heart attack on November 29, 1983, shortly before he was to be interrogated again. He was buried in accordance with Bahá’í law with many friends attending his funeral.[1]
