Husayn Mutlaq

Husayn Mutlaq (January 30, 1936 - June 14, 1981) was a Persian Bahá’í who served on the Local Spiritual Assembly of Hamadán. He was martyred following the Revolution in Iran.

Biography[edit]

Mutlaq was born into a Bahá’í family in Aran, Kashan, in 1936. He completed his education in Aran then moved to Tehran where he worked for the Bank-e-Sepah for five years before being employed by the Umaná Company, the body responsible for managing and maintaining Bahá’í properties in Iran. He worked for the Umaná Company for twelve years.[1]

Mutlaq later pioneered to Hamadán where he was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly in 1977. He was arrested on July 16, 1979, and imprisoned for nine days in the Sepah-e-Pasdaran with the Local Spiritual Assembly covering his bail. He was arrested again on August 13, 1980, alongside other members of the Local Spiritual Assembly and severely tortured before being executed on June 14, 1981, with six other members of the Assembly.[1]
