Hizzaya Hissani Mwani is a Bahá’í who served as a Continental Counselor for Africa.
Background[edit]
After serving on the National Spiritual Assembly in Tanzania, Mr. Hissani moved to Canada where he attended the International Baha'i Conference in Montréal in September 1982. He then studied for some time in Trois Rivières, Québec. He pioneered from Canada back to his home country of Zaire in 1984,[1] and the Universal House of Justice appointed him as a Continental Counselor for Africa in 1988 to fill a vacancy.[2]
Mr. Hissani was appointed for full five year terms in 1990 and 1995 completing his service as Counselor in 2000. During this time he travelled extensively in the interior of Zaire, the name of which changed to Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1997.
He was serving as the program manager of the Bahá’í inspired Uganda Program of Literacy for Transformation as of 2004.[3]
