Habib Taherzadeh

Habib Taherzadeh (Ḥabíb Ṭáhirzádih) (1908-1995) was born in Yazd to Liqá Khánum and Jináb-i-Háj. He attended the Tarbíyat School in Tihran where he became well-known for his intellectual gifts, and especially his excellence in English, French, and Esperanto. When he completed his studies, he moved to Khuzistán in the south of Iran where he established Esperanto associations and created a glossary of Esperanto words and their equivalents in English, French, and Persian. He later embarked on a career of service to Bahá’í institutions. He helped translate the English works of Shoghi Effendi into Persian, and worked at the World Center at the invitation of the Universal House of Justice translating the Bahá’í Writings from Arabic and Persian into English. He also published a number of works including biographies, translations, articles, and a bimonthly journal entitled Bahá’í News and Reviews.
