Habíbu’lláh Tahqíqí

Habíbu’lláh Tahqíqí (October 27, 1927 - July 29, 1981) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.

Tahqíqí was born in Yazd in 1927 although his parents moved to Ahvaz in his youth where he was raised and completed High School. After school he moved to Abadan where he studied at Abadan Universities college of Petroleum Studies. He was granted a scholarship allowing him to pursue further studies in England.[1]
Upon his return to Iran Tahqíqí began workin for the Oil Refinery Works of Abadan and in 1957 he married. He was transferred to work at an oil refinery near Tehran in 1967 and worked there until moving to Tabriz in 1977 to help establish an oil refinery. He was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly of Tabriz after moving to the city.[1]
In 1981 Tahqíqí was dismissed from his job due to being a Bahá’í and on April 5, 1981, he was arrested and denied visitors until mid July. He was executed by firing squad alongside eight fellow Bahá’ís on July 29, 1981.[1]
