Guardianship

From Bahaipedia
Jump to:navigation, search

The Will and Testament of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá indicated that after His passing, authority would pass to Shoghi Effendi and the Universal House of Justice (when the latter would be established). Although the Will established the principle of a hereditary office called the Guardianship, since Shoghi Effendi had no qualified heirs, he ended as the first and only Baha'i Guardian. The break in the line of Guardians was a possibility envisaged by Bahá’u’lláh Himself in paragraph 42 of the Kitáb-i-Aqdas.
