Guangzhou (formerly Canton) is a port city in southern China. Located at the mouth of the Pearl River in close proximity to Hong Kong and Macau, it is one of the largest cities in China and a centre for international trade. One of the first Chinese Bahá’ís, Liu Chan Song (Chan S. Liu), settled in Canton after learning about the Faith in the United States.[1][2] By the 1930s, the city was home to an active Bahá’í community.[3]
