George S. Hopper
George S. Hopper (d. 1938) was an early American Bahá’í who served the Bahá’í communities of Ithaca, New York, and Washington, D.C..
Background
[edit]Hopper was married to Mary Helen and they had a son, Guy, and daughter, Elizabeth.[1] The whole family became Bahá’ís while living in Ithaca and they hosted meetings in their home regularly for the cities Bahá’í community.[2] George also served as a delegate of the Ithaca Bahá’ís at the 1910 Bahá’í National Convention.[3]
In 1910 Hopper, his wife, and his daughter moved to Washington, D.C.,[4] and that year they hosted a Unity Feast at the Conservatory of Music alongside Louis Gregory.[5] In 1914 Hopper served as a delegate of the Washington, D.C., community to the National Convention,[6] and that year his wife passed away in the city.[7]
Hopper passed away in Washington, D.C., in 1938.[8]
