Friedrich "Fritz" Schar was an early Swiss Bahá’í who served on the National Spiritual Assembly of Italy and Switzerland.

Biography[edit]

Schar declared around 1948 and married fellow newly declared Bahá’í Olga Spreng in July that year with a Bahá’í ceremony in Bern.[1][2] As of 1949 he was serving as the chairman of the Local Spiritual Assembly of Bern.[3]

In 1953 the National Spiritual Assembly of Italy and Switzerland was formed and Schar was elected to the body as Vice-Chairman,[4] and as of 1955 he was the bodies Treasurer.[5] During 1955 Schar and his wife supervised the purchase, renovations, and furnishing of the National Ḥaẓíratu’l-Quds for the Assembly of Italy and Switzerland.[6]

As of 1958 Schar was serving as Chairman of the National Assembly of Italy and Switzerland and in July he represented the body at the Intercontinental Teaching Conference for Europe in Frankfurt, Germany.[7] In 1962 an independent National Spiritual Assembly of Switzerland was formed and Schar was elected to the body as secretary.[8]

As of 1981 Schar had completed his service on the National Spiritual Assembly of Switzerland.[9]
