Fírúz Na‘ímí

Fírúz Na‘ímí (October 3, 1935 - June 14, 1981) was a Bahá’í who served on the Local Spiritual Assembly of Hamadán. He was martyred following the Revolution in Iran.

Biography[edit]

Na‘ímí was born in Ishqabad, Turkmenistan, in 1935 but his family moved to Yazd, Iran, in 1937. He completed his schooling in Yazd then moved to Mashhad where he studied medicine. After graduating he moved to Hamadán where he was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly, worked for the Ministry of Health ultimately becoming director of its Malaria Eradication Department, and established a private medical practice.[1]

When the Iranian Revolution took place in 1979 Na‘ímí was dismissed by the Ministry of Health but continued working for a Hamadán hospital and maintained his private practice. He was arrested alongside six fellow members of the Hamadán Assembly on August 9, 1980, and severely tortured before being executed on June 14, 1981.[1]
