Escape from Earth
A novel, by Duane L. Herrmann, which follows the adventures of a family which responds to an appeal from the Universal House of Justice to find and assist Bahá'ís on the distant planet of Makana in the year 306 B.E. Conditions on Earth are chaotic due to massive sea rises due to unmitigated global warning. Difficulties faced are massive: the climate, circumstances, flora and fauna of this planet. And, what about the native aliens? Not only are there "trees" that can kill, or at least maim, humans, as well as wildlife which can do the same. Humans arrive from all parts of Earth, many unable to communicate with others. Some want power and will kill for it.
Transit to Makana is through a one-way and unstable wormhole. Arrival is not guaranteed, but people are desperate to flee the chaos on Earth where billions have died, millions are climate refugees and governments have collapsed.
What can the Bahá'ís do to build a new civilization under these circumstances?
Published by Czykmate Productions in 2018 as an ebook, revised and expanded in print in 2019. This may well be the first Bahá'í-inspired science fiction novel published by a general publisher.
