Doi (identifier)
From Bahaipedia
A Digital object identifier (DOI) is a unique, persistent identification code that is used to track and refer to a particular "object", which, in practice, is often an electronic document such as an academic work, book, or dataset. DOIs are managed by the not-for-profit International DOI Foundation.
DOIs are designed to be both human- and machine-readable. Each DOI is composed of a numerical prefix and suffix separated by a forward slash (/
). For instance, in the DOI 10.1000/182
, the prefix is 10.1000 and the suffix is 182. Each DOI can "resolve" to a URL on the World Wide Web using the website of the International DOI Foundation, doi.org.
