Denagan Chancouin is a Beninese Bahá’í who has served on the National Spiritual Assembly of Benin for many years. His wife Josephine was the second woman elected to the National Spiritual Assembly of Benin.

He became a Bahá’í in Porto Novo in 1969, and he helped establish the cities Local Spiritual Assembly. He later went on to help Chivie, Houngbome, Malanhui, and Pobe establish Assemblies.

In 1971 he was elected to the National Spiritual Assembly of Dahomey, Togo, and Niger and in 1972 he was elected as Chairman of the body. He served on it until 1975 when the independent National Spiritual Assembly of Dahomey succeeded the joint Assembly, and he was elected to the independent Assembly as Chairman. He also served on the Regional Teaching Committee for Ouma Province.

In 1977 he was in a serious car accident with his wife, and later said the following:

"With the assistance of the prayers of the Bahá’ís, we are recovering, and we see that the pain from our injuries is a lesson. The lesson is this, that the prayers of all the Bahá’ís in the world are truly the sacred remedy for the world's illnesses. We must be proud that we are in this great family of Bahá’u’lláh, and we must have the courage to teach."

In 1980 he opened the dedication of the Enoch Olinga Bahá’í Center in Porto Novo.[1]

In his career he operated a dispensary in Malanhui and he had a home in both Malanhui, which he opened to the Faith, and Porto Novo.
