Dale E Lehman
Dale E. Lehman (September 15, 1958-) is the owner of the website Planet Baha'i and co-owner of the small publishing company One Voice Press, LLC. A software developer by profession, he became a Baha'i in mid-1983. He has served on Local Spiritual Assemblies in the Chicago suburbs and the Baltimore suburbs.
Born on September 15, 1958 in Toledo Ohio, Dale lived in neighboring Sylvania until he was eight. Due to his father's job transfers, the family moved to Darien, Illinois (prior to its incorporation) for three years, then to Sacramento, California for another three years, then to Bloomingdale, Illinois. Dale briefly attended Northwestern University, where he first encountered the Baha'i Faith. Shortly thereafter, he married Kathleen Kettler, who he had met at Northwestern. The couple lived in several locations in Chicago's northwest suburbs before moving to the Baltimore suburbs in 1995. They have five children.
At the end of 1999, Dale became About.com's host for its Baha'i Faith website. He developed content for the site through September 2001, when the company, affected by falling advertising revenues, cut a large number of sites from its service. Dale retained rights to the material, however, and later that year created the new website Planet Baha'i to host it. He continued writing material on the Baha'i Faith for Planet Baha'i until the end of 2010. Kathleen contributed a number of articles to the site as well. The site remains online as an archive. The Planet Baha'i discussion forum is still in operation.
In 2006, Dale and Kathleen published Spiritual Telemetry: Readings From the First Five Years of Planet Baha'i through Publish America, a collection of Planet Baha'i essays written between 2000 and 2004. They planned a second collection, but were dissatisfied with certain aspects of their experience with Publish America, and began thinking in terms of self-publishing. This led to the founding, in 2010, of One Voice Press, LLC, a small, independent publishing house specializing in inspirational materials consistent with the Baha'i Faith. Most of the books published by the company have been written by other authors. However, three collections of Planet Baha'i essays were eventually published as ebooks, and Dale's mystery novel, The Fibonacci Murders, was released by the company's new imprint Serpent Cliff in October 2014.
