Consolidation is one of the three stages of teaching the Bahá’í Faith as understood during most of the twentieth century. General announcement that the Faith exists, and a broad reference to its principles, were termed proclamation. Individual contact, during which the teachings of the Faith were explained, was then referred to as "teaching", and all work thereafter was considered to be consolidation. If an individual accepted the Faith, all deepening work with that individual was termed consolidation. If a Local Spiritual Assembly was established, all efforts to deepen its members, to increase their grasp of the role of the Assembly, or to attract more people to the Faith to strengthen the base of the Assembly was likewise termed consolidation.

This same word has deliberately been chosen for one of the stages in the cycles of growth now under way in many parts of the planet. Immediately after the Expansion Phase comes the Consolidation Phase, during which strengthening of individuals, strengthening of knowledge and strengthening of communities are all the focus of activity. Taking new believers through the sequence of Ruhi Institute books constitutes one major method consolidation, for the purposes of the Consolidation Phase.
