Clyde Longyear
Dr. Clyde Stanley Longyear (May 27, 1881 - July 23, 1957) was an American Bahá’í who served on several state level Bahá’í institutions and the Inter-America Committee.

Longyear was born in Duluth, Minnesota, in 1881. He married Marion Hodge in 1917 and they had a son, John, while in Minnesota the following year however he passed in 1940 at the age of 21.[1][2]
At some point Longyear and his wife became Bahá’ís and active members of the United States Bahá’í community and in 1942 he was appointed to the Regional Teaching Committee of California and Nevada to replace Virginia Orbison who had pioneered to Chile.[3] In 1943 he and his wife were appointed to the Inter-America Committee responsible for planning and supervising teaching work in Central and South America.[4]
As of 1944 Longyear and his wife were living in Los Angeles and that year he was appointed Chairman of the State Convention Committee for Southern California.[5] In 1946 the Longyear's moved to Beverly Hills from Los Angeles.[6] As of 1949 Longyear and his wife were serving on the Audio-Visual Education Committee,[7] and by 1951 he was serving as Chairman of the Southern California Regional Teaching Committee.[8]
In 1952 Longyear's wife Marion passed away.[9] He remarried to Vera Hughes, who was also a widower,[10] before his passing in Twentynine Palms, San Bernardino County, in July 1957.[1]
