All textual content on Bahaipedia is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License, unless specifically noted otherwise on the page in question. Such notation will be obvious and specific to the page where the notice exists.

Images and media are available under a variety of licenses, some of which have restrictions on reuse. If you wish to reuse or redistribute any of these files, it is your responsibility to observe the conditions and restrictions of any and all licenses that may apply.

Copyright guidelines for submissions

Bahaipedia takes copyright law seriously. All content submitted to this website must be tagged with a valid license which allows its use on Bahaipedia and its sister projects, including Bahai.media, Bahai.works, and Bahai9.com and their various language versions.

All content added to Bahaipedia must be original, or licensed in such a way as to allow others to freely reuse that content. Original content is preferrable to copying appropriately licensed content because search engines perform their own checks for duplicated content.

For example, reusing content from Wikipedia on Bahaipedia is legal with the appropriate attribution; however, when search engines see an exact copy of content on both websites, they will demote the Bahaipedia article, meaning that it will never appear in the search results page. For this reason, copying content—even when it is legal to do so—has an overall negative effect on the project.

By submitting original content to Bahaipedia, users irrevocably agree to release their contributions as stated above.

Images

All media files uploaded to Bahaipedia or Bahai.media should be accompanied by a valid license tag demonstrating permission to host and use them on the Bahaipedia family of websites, including Bahaipedia, Bahai.media, Bahai.works, Bahaidata, Bahai.quest, Bahai9.com and their various language versions. At a minimum, a license must allow the file to be hosted on Bahai.media (distribution rights), displayed on Bahai.media and sister websites (reproduction rights), and edited for size (so that, e.g., thumbnails may be generated).

Please note that Bahai.media hosts files that have certain restrictions on reuse (such as copyrighted files with limited use granted, and files licensed under Creative Commons non-commercial and share-alike licenses). If you wish to reuse or redistribute any of these files, it is your responsibility to observe the conditions and restrictions of any and all licenses that may apply. Files meant for general use may be found at Wikimedia Commons.

Dealing with copyright violations

If content is found which violates copyright, it must be removed as promptly as possible, either by removing the violating content from the page where it was added, or, if a new page was created entirely from violating content, by deleting the page. The editor who performs the removal should also notify the user who added the content by leaving a message on their talk page informing them of the removal and linking to this page.
