Akhtar Thábit

Akhtar Thábit (1958 - June 18, 1983) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.

Biography[edit]

Thábit was born into a Bahá’í family in Sarvestan in 1958. Her father owned a small shop and she assisted him in managing the business while still attending school. On December 8, 1978, the shop and also the family home were looted in a wave of persecution of the Sarvestan Bahá’í's and the Thábit's moved to Shiraz.[1]

In Shiraz Thábit completed studies to become a nurse and began working at a hospital and conducting Bahá’í children's classes. She was arrested on October 23, 1982, for her beliefs and executed by hanging on June 18, 1983, alongside nine fellow Bahá’í women.[1]
