Akbar Haqíqí

Akbar Haqíqí (September 24, 1939 - December 19, 1983) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
Haqíqí was born in the village Ivughli in the Western Azerbaijan Province of Iran. He came to own and operate a large farm in the village and served on its Local Spiritual Assembly for many years.[1]
In the summer of 1982 Haqíqí was inspecting his farm with his eight year old son and during his inspection he saw that a flock of sheep were grazing on his land. Haqíqí asked for the sheep to be removed as they were destroying his crops which resulted in an argument in which Haqíqí was attacked and beaten by several people. He passed due to his injuries on September 19, 1983.[2]
The attack was reported to the police however the testimony of Haqíqí's son was ignored and no other witnesses came forward resulting in the accused being released after eight months. A few months later Haqíqí's farm was confiscated from his family after they refused to recant their belief in the Bahá’í Faith.[3]
