Adrien Gnambodé

Adrien Gnambodé is a Beninese Bahá’í who served on the National Spiritual Assembly of Benin. He was also the first Beninese Bahá’í to go on Pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
Adrien became a Bahá’í in 1964. He was one of the first people in Dowa to accept the Faith and later he served on the Dowa Local Spiritual Assembly. In 1974 he was elected to the National Spiritual Assembly of Benin, Togo, and Niger, and the following year he was elected to the independent Assembly for Benin. He also served on the Regional Teaching Committee for Oume Province and walked and bicycled throughout the region helping establish fifteen Local Spiritual Assemblies.
In 1978 he was elected as the delegate for Benin to the Fourth International Convention in Haifa at which the Universal House of Justice was elected. He was the first Beninese Bahá’í to visit the Holy Shrines. In 1980 he cut the ribbon at the dedication of the Enoch Olinga Bahá’í Center in Porto Novo.[1]
Adrien has eleven children.
