‘Azamatu’lláh Fahandizh

‘Azamatu’lláh Fahandizh (January 4, 1936 - December 8, 1979) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.

Biography[edit]

Fahandizh was born into a Bahá’í family in Saadi in 1936. He completed ten years of schooling then enrolled in a military school in Tehran graduating as a junior lieutenant. He then joined the police force serving in Shiraz, Kirmanshah, Ahvaz, Isfahan, Naft-e-Sefid, and Zanjan. He also continued a military career and became a Colonel in the Iranian Air Force.[1]

On April 15, 1979, Fahandizh was arrested in Tehran and imprisoned in Adilabad prison. He was put on trial on November 15, 1979, sentenced to execution on November 27, and executed by firing squad on December 14, 1979.[1]
