‘Azízu’lláh Ashjárí

‘Azízu’lláh Ashjárí

‘Azízu’lláh Ashjárí (1928 - November 19, 1985) was a Persian Bahá’í who served as an assistant to the Auxiliary Board in the Persian province of Azerbaijan. He was martyred for his beliefs.

Biography[edit]

Ashjárí was born in 1928. He married in 1959 and he and his wife had two children. He and his family pioneered to Ardabil in the province of Azerbaijan in 1973 and was appointed an assistant to the Auxiliary Board. He frequently traveled across the province to support Local Spiritual Assemblies.[1]

On September 7, 1981, Ashjárí was arrested in Ardabil. He was held for several months then transferred to Tabriz where he was imprisoned until being executed by firing squad on November 19, 1985. His body was returned to his family and he was buried on November 23.[2]
