‘Avad-Gul Fahandizh

‘Avad-Gul Fahandizh (1923 - December 14, 1978) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred.

Background[edit]

Fahandizh was born in Saadie near Shiraz in Iran in 1923. She married a Muslim man and they had seven children together.[1]

On December 14, 1978, riots broke out in Saadie with the homes of Bahá’ís being destroyed. Fahandizh's children went to watch the riots taking place and she left her home to find them. The exact details of her murder are not known but she reportedly attempted to assist an injured woman in the courtyard of a house next to her own and she was shot and killed. Her family became aware of her passing when her body was found at a hospital the following morning.[1]
