‘Alíridá Níyákán

‘Alíridá Níyákán (1917 - November 11, 1984) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
Níyákán was born into a Muslim family of farmers in Zonouz in 1917. His father became a Bahá’í in 1902 and taught the religion to the family with the family also accepting the religion. Níyákán came to manage his families farms and they became successful, however due to hostility towards the Bahá’í Faith in the area the farms were sometimes vandalized with fruit trees being cut down and livestock being slaughtered.[1]
On September 11, 1981, Níyákán's home was raided by Revolutionary Guards and he was arrested first being taken to Marand then being transferred to Tabriz prison where he was tortured. He lost the use of his right arm and his speech became impaired as a result of his torture and he passed away in the prison hospital on November 11, 1984.[1]
