‘Alí-Akbar Khursandí

‘Alí-Akbar Khursandí (1930 - May 12, 1979) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
Khursandí was born in Sangsar in 1930. His family moved often and he lived in several different towns in his childhood. In 1960 he settled in Kalaleh aiming to help consoliate the Bahá’í community and he married and had children in the town and served on the Local Spiritual Assembly. He later moved to Gonbad-e Kavus so his children could receive a higher quality of education.[1]
On April 4, 1979, Khursandí was arrested because he was a Bahá’í and imprisoned in Tehran. He was held in Saltanatabad prison for a few days then transferred to Qasr prison where he was denied any visitors. He was executed by hanging on May 12, 1979. He was buried in the Bahá’í cemetery of Tehran.[1]
