Karbilá (Arabic: كربلاء) is a city in 'Iráq. The city is were the Imám Husayn was martyred along with His followers. It is regarded at one of the most holiest cities for the Shí’ás and many pilgrims, particularity Persians, flocked to the city. Táhirih stayed in Karbilá for a while, as did Bahá’u’lláh briefly. Fátimih Bagum, the mother of the Báb, passed away there and the Báb sent many of His followers to Karbilá.
