Iṣfahán (or Esfahan) is a city in Iran. It was a centre of Bábí activities during the Báb's stay (1846-7). Probably the most famous Bábí-Bahá'í family were the illustrious Nahrí Family, to whom the The King and Beloved of Martyrs and Munírih Khánum belonged. Keith Ransom-Kehler died in Iṣfahán in 1933 and was buried near the tombs of The King and Beloved of Martyrs.
According to Moojan Momen, Shoghi Effendi spoke Persian with an Iṣfahání accent learned from Munírih Khánum, his grandmother, which influenced the Bahá’í system of orthography adopted by him for transliterating Bahá’í texts into English.[1]
