Bahaipedia (formerly Bahaikipedia) is a collaborative, independent encyclopedia dedicated to presenting articles on the Bahá’í Faith and its history. Our goal is to make this information easily accessible to everyone, and to encourage study of the source documents used in our articles. We invite you to join us in this endeavor by contributing your knowledge, correcting inaccuracies, and helping to build a comprehensive resource for everyone to enjoy. Whether you are a seasoned editor or new to the wiki format, your input is invaluable. To get started, visit our contribution guide and learn how you can help enrich our content and ensure that it remains accurate and up-to-date.
Bahaipedia was started in 2007 and is overseen by David Haslip, who manages the technical and community aspects of the project. Should you have any questions, concerns, or require assistance, please feel free to contact him directly. Bahaipedia has grown steadily since it began, our dedicated community of editors have created 19,544 pages and made 158,604 edits to date. Our commitment to expanding and refining this knowledge base continues as we aim to cover the full breadth of Bahá’í history and teachings.
Technology - Bahaipedia is built on the MediaWiki platform, the same software that powers Wikipedia, ensuring a familiar and stable environment for collaboration and future growth. Our infrastructure is designed for reliability and speed, with content served from servers in four global regions—Virginia (USA), Singapore, São Paulo, and Frankfurt. This distribution ensures fast and efficient access to information for users worldwide. For more technical details or to explore our custom extensions, visit our GitHub repository.
Sister Projects - Bahaipedia is supported by a network of sister projects that enhance and expand its offerings:
Bahai.media
A central repository for photos and other media used in articles across Bahaipedia, this project allows different websites and language versions to share a common set of files. Bahai.media also provides visitors with a way to explore media related to the Bahá’í Faith.
Bahai.works
Focused on the preservation and accessibility of historical documents, Bahai.works digitizes, proofreads, and makes available a wide range of materials, including periodicals like Bahá’í News and Star of the West. Our goal is to create a fully searchable database of these invaluable resources.
Bahai9.com
A compendium of quotes, summaries, lists, and resources, Bahai9.com is an essential tool for those seeking to deepen their understanding of the Bahá’í Faith. Its topical outlines and content pages serve as gateways to both internal and external resources, making it easier to find relevant quotes and information.
Bahai.quest
A concordance to the Bahá’í writings: a collection of principal words used in the writings of the Central Figures of the Bahá’í Faith with their immediate contexts.
Bahaidata.org
A repository for structured data about topics covered in the Bahaipedia family of projects. Modules written in Lua are used to query and process data stored here. Applications include displaying lists of works by certain authors, along with biographical information. Bahaidata also provides interwiki links between pages on different projects that share the same topic.
